Devising Process

  • The devising process began as a class, where we did a team-work workshop, which allowed us to see that through encouragement and the use of constructive criticism it will allow our performance and team working skills to grow and flourish as a whole.
  • We then began brief devising projects with various stimuli for the purpose of working as a team.
  • Then the actual devising process began, where the initial stages of practice began with a particular emphasis on creativity and imagination.
  • The groups were chosen by our teacher- I work with Taylor, George and Paige.
  • After this, the stimulus was given- ours was headspace.
  • The initial planning, interpretation and discussion was what we worked on as a group next.
  • To help us get a better idea of a structure to our piece, we created a three-frame story, which allowed us to build and outline different ideas, which took us on to the next step.
  • The next step being our idea was chosen and we began the adaptation of our final performance.
  • To get a better idea of historical, social and political context we began our research into the piece and for when it was set etc.
